Karen Green - Nottingham

Mind and Body Consultants

Tai-Chi/Chi-Kung for Health, Monday, 10.45-11.45am (during term-time only) at Indian Summer Yoga Studio in Newark (NG24 1ER).

This class is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine that focuses on the flow of energy around the body. The movements are gentle and easy to learn, and some can even be performed seated. As well as learning the movements, you'll learn more about how your body works and how specific exercises can help with specific problems. Tai-Chi and Chi-Kung can help with a range of conditions, such as muscle aches and pains, arthritis and stress-related problems.

Karen is running this class as she feels passionately that Tai-Chi and Chi-Kung can help to improve people's health. Her view is supported by scientific research: for example, a study published in the Arthritis Care & Research Journal in 2011 found that Tai-Chi helped to ease lower back pain.

Shropshire Tai Chi Academy

The Shropshire Tai Chi Academy runs classes throughout Shropshire.
Our Aims

• Facilitate and encourage people to share in the Tai Chi and related arts as taught by Master Moy Lin-Shin
• Enable people aged 18 and over from all walks of life to enjoy the benefits of Tai Chi
• Provide instruction to allow people to participate in Tai Chi on a regular basis and train volunteer instructors to teach Tai Chi and related arts
• Encourage involvement in Tai Chi in local communities
• Develop an understanding of the benefits of this form of gentle exercise, as it promotes mental and physical well-being
The Shropshire Tai Chi Academy teaches 108-move Tai Chi. Our instructors pay particular attention to full extension in all of the movements, a style developed by Master Moy Lin-Shin (1931-1998). He modified the traditional Yang Style 108-move Tai Chi set to maximise the health benefits for faster health improvement, as he realised that in a modern society, an exercise that was good for health was more important than a martial art for fighting.
