TCUGB AGM Report

The AGM was convened at 1330 on April 5th at Blackbird Leys Sports Centre, Oxford. Minutes were taken by the Chairman and are brief as the Secretary was unable to attend for family reasons. Shelagh Granpierre was also unable to attend and sent apologies. Andreas Schoter and Jayne Storey resigned during the year.

There were no matters arising from the minutes of the last AGM.The Treasurer gave her report and the balance of the account was in a healthy state though there have been more demands on it including the publishing of the new magazine 4 times per year and the approval of new software for the editor to keep up to date.



Correspondence included the Sainsbury Active Family project which the EC decided to ask Ronnie to go ahead with as Promotions Officer.



The Chairman reported that the TCUGB intended to continue to run joint seminars around the country and to encourage attendance at these and judges’ workshops to build up member profiles and portfolios and this would be taken into account in assessing suitability for regarding members.



Future events include the TCFE European Internal Arts Championships to be held in Linkopping Sweden in early November and it was agreed by the EC that a TCUGB presence would be encouraged. Gary announced that Wu’s Tai Chi Academy were organizing the London Competition for Traditional Tai Chi Chuan at Queensbridge Sports Centre, 30 Holly Street, Hackney, London E8 3XW. On Saturday, June 7th.



Faye Yip announced that there would be competitions in Yongnian in September and on Wudang in October and it was hoped that there might be some TCUGB presence.



Ronnie gave the Magazine Report and stated that more material was needed especially from the BCCMA. The next issue will appear in May. He said also that he intended to attend the Special Needs Forum May Gathering and report it for the magazine.



Nominations for the EC were then announced as follows:- Dan Docherty for Chairman; Marnix Wells for Vice Chairman; Karen Limb for Treasurer/ Member Secretary; Peter Ballam for Secretary; and Faye Yip, Shelagh Granpierre, Mark Peters, Gary Wragg and David Hackett as EC members. No other nominations were received. It was announced that voting would be by internet.



Questions were than taken from the floor. In particular, concern was expressed about qualifications and it was generally agreed that the TCUGB should continue to run courses and workshops and look at other types of training.



The meeting adjourned at 1430.
