BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

You will be joining the largest organisation representing Tai Chi and Qi Gong practitioners in Great Britain (TCUGB).

As we are not style specific, we represent a wide spectrum of views and approaches to the arts.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

The Constitution of the TCUGB sets out two types of members Full and Associate.

Full members will usually, but not necessarily, be instructors, whereas Associate membership is more appropriate for students, people/organizations that have an interest in the arts but are not actively teaching, and overseas instructors.

Full members have voting rights in the TCUGB Board elections.

There is no requirement for members to be instructors but as an organization, the TCUGB acknowledges instructor members (Full or Associate) with gradings Senior (S),  Advanced (A),  Intermediate (I)  & Basic (B).

  • Senior Instructors (S)
normally will have at least 20 years experience of practising Chinese internal arts in depth; they may vote at General Meetings etc., stand for election to the Board of Directors, and are in theory Technical Panel Qualified.
  • Advanced Instructors (A)
normally will have at least 8-10 years experience of practising Chinese internal arts in depth, they may vote at General Meetings etc. and stand for election to the Board of Directors.
  • Intermediate Instructors (I)
practice Chinese internal arts to an acceptable level and have at least 5 years experience; they may vote at General Meetings etc., but not stand for election to the BoD.
  • Basic Instructors (B)
are continuing their apprenticeship in Chinese internal arts and able to teach at a basic level; they may attend but not vote or stand for election at General Meetings.
