Effortless effectiveness made simple: harnessing the subtle yin and yang energies of the body, and exploring our microcosmic and macrocosmic orbits
Musculoskeletal movement is experienced by everyone as they live and move. Less well known are our body’s innate elasticity and hydraulics.
The ‘yin and yang energies of the body’ refers to the sense of directional flow in movement, e.g., upward and downward, and inward and outward. The micro- and macro- cosmic obits refers to various circular and elliptical flow patterns within, and around, the body. Tai chi and qigong provide us with unique ways to experience these less well known aspects of movement, especially making physical work less arduous whilst achieving more.
Beginners will appreciate physical exercise from a new and relaxed perspective, and improvers will add depth to their knowledge and skill. The session will be a mix of relaxing stillness and movement, stories, science and esoteric stuff.
The approach will be informal, relaxed, mindfully meditative and leisurely, including lots of rests, some partner work, plus an informative slide presentation.
