Water: Metaphor, Movement and Meditation

Event Details

Instructor: Colin Hughes

Water is a foundational metaphor running through the 'Classics' of Chinese philosophy, and is foundational to classical Chinese medicine. Consequently, tai chi, qigong and related meditation are intimately associated with the qualities of water. Modern science acknowledges that we are mainly made of water, and our internal anatomy and physiology are saturated in life sustaining water.

We will explore selected attributes of water as manifest in tai chi, qigong and meditation, e.g., stillness, flow and phase change. A chance to step back from the routine of class format, and have time for appreciating more of the depth and intrinsic value of practice, and to share and discuss understanding and ideas and to socialise. Complete beginners are welcome. The session will be a mix of stillness and movement, stories, science and esoteric stuff.

The approach will be informal and relaxed, including lots of breaks, some partner work, plus an informative slide presentation.
